How long before I can exercise again after the back pain?
Yesterday I was in the middle of a workout and had to stop due to pain Acute lower back. (Herniated disc, the sciatic nerve?) Today I am better but not 100%. I usually do a cardio workout and strength training which consists of plyometrics, squats, and some yoga.
The best advice is to consult your primary care physician and see if it / She cares enough to send a specialist. But to put this in perspective: I have 24 and have been dealing with back pain (herniated disc, sciatica, and more) for 4 years. I just returned to the gym this week for the first time in more than six months and I feel pretty good – except for my sciatic pain … but only in my ass! I love the bike, but I do it only for 15 minutes and spend more time on the tape, which is easier for me. The difference between you and me is that I have a diagnosis and I know that working I will help more than hurt me, if I do nothing I know I should not (use of weighted machines 10 pounds, running on the treadmill, etc.). If pain persists sure to consult your doctor. One thing I've always been told only going to help me is a stretch. The good news is that the stretch is possible to modify their ability and comfort … make sure not to over do it – because if you have an underlying lesion that do not know, can make things worse – but slightly stretching can make you feel much better. I found a lot of great stretches that I have in the past (including some who still do) on the website sources. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!
